Final Major Project

Natural Skincare Brand

Au Natural = Borrowed from the French. Meaning ‘in the natural’ or in ‘the naked state’.

Food waste is becoming a huge issue globally, as landfills become more common and more food is reaching its sell-by-date quicker. Consumers are now looking for a way that they can make a more informed choice concerning their lifestyle, resulting in a rise in health consciousness and de-cluttered lifestyles.

Au Natural is an all-natural skincare brand that uses natural ingredients with a twist. Using food waste at the heart of their ingredients, to create a main line of basic skincare for the ethical consumer. With advancements of technological in food waste, this has created ways to take nutrients from food waste and use them in cosmetics.

Through an experience, the consumer will come and learn, what more they can do with their food waste. Website will advocate the theme of wellness and positivity, with natural elements throughout. Through the website they can watch videos, live chat and shop the products.

Au Natural looks to target Millennials, who are health-conscious consumers, and are demanding transparency in the products that they buy. To respond to this trend, Au Natural will satisfy the needs of this consumer tribe. Based on
researches, majority of consumers are concern about living a more ethical life, with global warming and ‘greener’ lifestyle becoming more than just a trend. Therefore, creating a skincare brand that ties in with living a cleaner lifestyle and helping the environment, is appealing to this consumer.

As a brand, we hope to use ingredients and nutrients from food waste to help reduce food waste and landfills within the UK. Also, by partnering with local
supermarkets, coffee houses and juice bars in the future, will help to stop food waste as any food that is past its sell by date, we can use within the skincare range.

Using science led research in creating a skincare range that uses food waste as their main ingredient. The brand will start with the basic skincare that the
consumer needs, i.e. moisturiser, lip balm and a scrub. The moisturiser main
ingredient will be avocados. The main ingredient in the lip balm will be limes and the main ingredients in the scrub will be coffee. This can all be sourced from supermarkets and coffee house.
